More Than the Podcast

First, there’s more than one publication here, and the way that Substack handles accounts with 2+ publications is to lump them all together on Notes under the primary. In my case, that’s Spec-Fic Speakeasy. So, if you’re seeing stuff from Strangleroot Books & Games under the SFS heading and not sure why, that’s what’s happening.

State of the Podcast

The first episode of the Spec-Fic Speakeasy is slated for late July or early August. We’re still hammering out the date, and I’ll update you as soon as I know. What’s not up in the air is our guest: we’ll be interviewing the mistress of lesbian werewolf femgore, . RM Greta will co-host with me!

I can also announce our next interview: , your favorite sci-fi, dystopian, utopian, and soon-to-be horror author. That one will be mid to late August. While I haven’t nailed down the third interview 100%, there is something in the works, and it’ll be total Carnage, hopefully.

What can you expect in terms of format? We’ll be doing interviews, but don’t expect too much of your standard stuff. Our goal is to highlight indie spec-fic authors but have fun while we’re doing it. Think…The Muppets meet a particularly unhinged book club. It’s also 18+.

Strangleroot Books & Games

Unless you just haven’t been paying attention at all (and with the world on fire, I can’t blame you), you’ve seen me posting about Strangleroot Books & Games. The idea is this: a mobile horror-exclusive bookstore serving North Central Florida with a focus on supporting local, indie, and small press-published authors (25% of our stock will be self-pubbed and small press books). It’ll be a new and used book model (we’ll accept donations and trade-ins for store credit). We’re currently running a GoFundMe to help get on the road. If you can donate, you’re fucking amazing. Ossuary 13

Be glad that I didn’t follow my first instinct and create a publication for Oss13 like I was going to, or you’d be getting those notes all mixed up with everything else :) Ossuary 13 is a print-only horror zine that will debut at the end of September. We’re currently accepting submissions (subs close Sept. 1). You can send us what you got, or you can sign up to get it mailed to your house.
